A Poetic License
It was an electric evening at Hard Rock Café Bangalore when Poets of the Fall took the elevated stage and rocked out mind-blowing renditions of their numbers with unerring musical accuracy. Marko and the boys had managed to pack their entire India tour in the one week break between their European tours. Their dedication to spreading music was evident in the earnest-nature with which they performed. Touring for their latest album, Temple of Thought, they also broke out into their older hits before a jam-packed crowd.
Although scheduled for an 8pm start, the troupe only took the stage by 9:15, causing many agitations amongst the crowd. However, that was all soon swept away and the mob became a controlled group of music-appreciators swaying in synchronicity to the heavy chord tones of Poets of the Fall. Their constant progress towards a more distinctive sound is truly obvious when one watches them live. The hours spent on fine tuning their sounds together was displayed beautifully at Hard Rock Café Bangalore as the bass notes seemed to emanate from the center, with haunting guitar sounds from the sides, and a loud, clear and precise vocal powerhouse riding over all of it.
Early on in the day, there was some commotion about availability of tickets, as the price (Rs.1500 with Rs.750 cover charge), the capacity of the venue, and availability were an issue to the fans. However, the management was able to dole out a few more tickets hours before the show, and the disgruntled fans that had to pay Rs.1500 were soon enjoying the ambience with a drink in one hand. Finally, when the “poets” had their say, nobody went home unsatisfied.
