The Mozart of Madras is set to begin his first India road tour in 20 years! Yes, you heard it right! A.R. Rahman is set to embark in a month long, one of a kind musical expedition covering four cities – Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur and Ahmedabad; this October as a part of RahmanIshq concert. The show promises to give the audience a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness a live interactive theatrical experience encompassing his award winning musical renditions over the years, blended with state of the art technology, great visual effects, synchronised choreography and powerful dance arrangements. As a part of this tour, the A.R. Rahman will be travelling to Sydney for a performance at the All Phones Arena on the 24th of August, 2013.
When it comes to music, A.R. Rahman is no stranger. From Roja to Taal; Lagaan to Jodhaa Akbar; and more recently Slumdog Millionaire and Rockstar; A generation of Indian audience has grown up listening to the maestros creations and many even getting inspired to by him. With a degree in western classical music from the Trinity College of Music, London, A.R. Rahman started his career with Roja, in 1991. Since then he has never looked back, his arsenal of 4 National Awards, 8 Academy Awards, 2 Grammy’s, the Golden Globe Award, the Bafta, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and 28 Filmfare Awards; speak volumes about this musical genius. Along with these laurels, he has been conferred with honorary degrees from the Trinity College of Music, Aligarh Muslim University, Anna University and the Middlesex University. In 2011, he joined the super band, SuperHeavy, comprising of the legend Mick Jagger, alongside Joss Stone, Damian Marley and Dave Stewart. Apart from music, Rahman has been actively supporting various charitable organisations and has been endorsing some of them too.

The Grammy award winning music director will be performing classics from his career and some all-time crowd favourites during the show. The show is believed to employ 25 to 30 truck convoy for the stage and props. Largest convoy used till date. Another special treat for the fans would be the ticket. Each ticket will contain a QR code, which when scanned by a smart phone will reveal a video of Rahman talking about the show. So a feel of the concert, before the actual event!
The show focuses on the lesser touched cities, places where Rahman hasn’t toured much. Being his first road tour in 20 years, this will be special nonetheless. Aperfect Diwali gift from the maestro to his fans!
