Scavenger Management is organizing the third edition of Rock Idols, a huge platform for all rock and metal bands across the country. The massive battle of bands will be organized in Aizawl, Mizoram where all participating bands would fight it out for prize money of ₹ 1 lakh along with a deal for a ten song album and a music video through Scavenger Records. Besides the sum of one lakh for the “Scavenger Idols”, the first runner up takes away 30000 INR in cash.
Interested local bands must register on the company’s site before 29st July 2013 with an entry fee of ₹1000, whereas the last date of registration for out-stationed bands is 29th July. Out-stationed bands will be provided accommodation along local transportation during the competition. The event will be held during 2nd August till 17th of August at Aizawl. Here’s the format of the competition:
Stage One (For Mizoram Bands)
Round 1: Blind Audition (2nd, 3rd Aug): All the bands will be given 5 minutes on stage. The bands will be allowed to perform any of their desired song choice within the given time.
Round 2: (5th, 6th Aug): The bands selected from Round 1 will be given 10 minutes on stage and off stage. Bands will have to perform two songs – one original and one Mizo popular cover song (any genre).
Stage Two (For other North Eastern Bands)
Blind Audition (10th Aug): All the bands will be given 5 minutes on stage. The bands will be allowed to perform any of their desired song choice within the given time.
Stage Three: For Out Station Bands (excluding NE Bands)
Blind Audition (12th Aug): All the bands will be given 5 minutes on stage. The bands will be allowed to perform any of their desired song choice within the given time.
Stage Four: For Out Station Bands (including NE Bands)
13th Aug: The shortlisted bands will be given 10 minutes on stage and off stage. Bands will have to perform two songs – one original and Beatle’s song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”.
Stage Five: For all Bands
Independence Day Special (August 14 & 15): The bands will need to performance one song in their own dialect so as to promote and create awareness for perseverance of the participant’s own linguistic background and any cover song. (These two nights will not be a part of the competition)
Finals
August 16: The bands can play any desired songs within the time limit of 10 minutes. Four bands will be selected for the Grand Finale to be held the next day.
Grand Finale
August 17: The bands would have to play two originals and one cover, which would be chosen by judges. A total of 18 minutes will be given to each finalist to perform these 3 songs.
