The opportunity to play in one of the biggest open air festivals of the world is here again; not for the people of North India though. The Indian leg of Wacken Metal Battle 2013, the annual competition organized by Wacken Open Air team, is going to be held in three different cities between June 16, 2013 and July 6, 2013. The following are the details of event:
East Zone eliminations – DMD Pub, Guwahati – June 16, 2013
South Zone eliminations – No Limmits Pub, Bangalore – June 22, 2013
West Zone eliminations – United 21 Pub, Thane – June 30, 2013
Semi Finals – Ion Bar, Bangalore – July 5, 2013
Finals – Jeff Hanneman Stage, Bangalore Open Air – July 6, 2013
This is the third edition of Wacken Metal Battle, India and there will be no North Zone eliminations this time due to the poor turnout in the last two editions. However, WMB organization committee has decided to choose 1 band to represent the North zone at the WMB 2013 semi-finals in Bangalore on the 5th of July 2013.
Four bands will be selected in each elimination round and a total of 13 bands would participate in the Semi Finals taking place in Ion Bar, Bangalore. Bands willing to participate in the competition can register themselves on Bangalore Open Air’s official site. Registrations close on June 10, so hurry up!
Meanwhile the second edition of Bangalore Open Air has created a surge of excitement across the country as it will be the first major festival of 2013. Unlike last year, this year’s line-up features a very diverse line-up and the venue is also in the heart of the city; so we can expect a better turn out this year. Taking place at Jaymahal Palace Grounds, the location where Children Of Bodom headlined The Great Indian October Fest, 2012, this gigantic event is going to feature the following eight bands:
