Fly Music Festival, the would-have-been first big music event of the year, seems to have got its wings clipped off! The enormous two-day festival happening at New Delhi and Bangalore, which promised us ravishing performances by the likes of Limp Bizkit, Anthrax, Deep Purple, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors, KT Tunstall, Mastodon and many more, has apparently been cancelled after announcement of a couple of upsetting news in the past one week. First came the news of Bangalore’s version turning into a one day event and next the cancellation of The Doors’ performance.
The buzzes started when Bobin James (ex- Rolling Stone India) tweeted about the festival getting scrapped off totally, labelling low ticket sales (500 in total, across both the cities) as the reason for the cancellation. Right from the moment it was announced, Fly Music Festival has been toggling through ups and downs, with underlined announcements made for the ups and no posts at all for the downs. Even now we are still waiting for an official statement from the organizers.
A lot of people are disappointed by this sudden cancellation and are expressing their displeasure through Facebook. The low number tickets sales came out as a shock especially after Fly Music Festival’s official page reached 50000 plus likes. Maybe it was fate, maybe the line up of the show was too good to be true, maybe the idea of having the shows consequently in two cities was crazy, but Fly Music Festival is probably off for now and our hopes are with Norah Jones to woo us with her delightful performances.
