After the resounding success of the first season of the Indian edition of Coke Studio on MTV India, Its back once again with another 8 episode season filled with the same colours and ethnicity it had tried to portray last year plus more. With over 264 musicians and 12 producers packed in this season, the show’s shooting is already underway at the famous state-of-the-art Reliance Media Works Studio in Mumbai.
The Show would premier on television from 7th July on MTV (7.30 pm).
The show is expected to continue to bring together various styles/genre of music together to bring about a fusion of these various styles, to cherish and showcase the diverse music talent of the country as well as create something new and fresh in the bargain. “Music has no boundaries and this is the core idea behind Coke Studio@MTV. Some of India’s most talented musicians have come together at a common platform, driven by a common cause, to celebrate the pure joy and happiness of music”, said Wasim Basir, Director, Integrated Marketing Communication, Coca-Cola India
The show is slated to have one composer directing each episode. The show would feature seven celebrated producers such as Amit Trivedi (Music Director of Ishqzaade), Clinton Cerejo (playback
artist/ arranger),Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa, Hitesh Sonik (assistant for composer/director
Vishal Bhardwaj) and Shantanu Moitra. Karsh Kale and Nitin Sawhney too have been signed on to present a taste of what they have been upto in their studios lately. The sessions will also feature independent artists such as Swanand Kirkire, Master Saleem, Shankar Tucker, Hari-Sukhmani, Papon, Shilpa Rao and Jalebee Cartel, Agam (Carnatic metal band from Bengaluru) and Dhruv Sangari (vocalist of Electro-Accoustic/ Sufiana act) from Delhi, DaSaaz. The Coke Studio Season II had its launch event on Tuesday 26th June, 2012 at Delhi. A host of musicians and producers were present at the event. Coke Studio @ MTV Season 2 is produced and broadcasted by Viacom 18 in association with Coca-Cola India Pvt. Ltd. and Red Chillies Entertainment’s, Idiot Box.
