“We are an intense crash of reality on your fragile face that will make you grind your teeth and contemplate” – Zygnema.
In 2011, the band won the Rolling Stone India Metal Award in the categories of “Best Song” and “Best Band – Popular Choice” and performed at the Metal Asylum Festival in Dubai, UAE in addition to venues in Osnabruck, Germany. In 2010, the band represented India at the Yamaha Asian Beats Global Finals in Bangkok, Thailand, where Sidharth won the award for Best Guitarist. In addition to his activities with the band, the guitarist, Sidharth has recently founded the JMD School of Music in Mumbai. He has also written and published two volumes of a new instructional series entitled “Guitar Theory” and “Playing Made Easy”.
Known for their immensely energetic and aggressive live performances with a list of versatile compositions from their debut album “Born of Unity”, the band has been on a rampage, ripping every stage they step on and now the band which was selected to represent India at the Wacken Open Air that was recently held in Germany is back in town.
Addressing Wacken as “Metal Mecca” the guitarist gives his insights about the biggest metal competition stage in the world, not failing to portray how incredibly excited they were to be a part of the legendary festival. Sidharth also considers his band to be lucky to have gotten the evening slot. The line-up this year constituted promising names like Machine Head, Opeth, and Sepultura etc. Other biggies throwing their hair around were Cradle Of Filth (who’ve gigged at Palace Grounds, Bangalore in April 2011), Napalm Death, Six Feet Under, Decapitated (who will play at Nepfest in Nepal on September 8, 2012), The Black Dahlia Murder, Hammerfall (who headlined IIT Saarang, Chennai in January 2012), and Amon Amarth (who played in India in December 2008) to name a few. As for Zygnema, their 20-minute gig was well received, so excellent that the musicians carried the level of music to euphoria all together. The band also gave away copies of their debut CD “Born of Unity”. They also played two new songs that they debuted earlier this year during the shooting of the live DVD at Blue Frog on January 22. The first band in India to create a live DVD, being a part of the Wacken Open Air sure laid a bed or roses for the band. For all the metal heads, (including the band members) Wacken Open Air sure was a dream paradise, a musical adventure wish fulfilling holiday.
