In the digital media age, even psychedelics have gone digital.
Introducing The Psychedelic Transcendence Show, a weekly radio show that presents various styles in Psychedelic Trance. The show is hosted at www.tenzi.fm every Monday midnight!
Psychedelic Trance is perhaps the most curious form of music the turn of the century has produced. Its mysteriousness comes from the fact that while its name is widely known, the intricacies of its content are not. Its origins are said to be from the utopian sea-side artist communities in Goa, India. Though almost every country in the world can proudly lay claim to their own unique ‘scene’. Over the course of its 20 year evolution, Psytrance has proven its solidity as a genre, out-growing many sister genres and amalgamated many of them as sub-genres. Many consider Psytrance as merely a container for a range of musical styles and ideas, further articulating its versatility. The genre enjoys a ‘cult’ status in the global music community, thanks to its niche yet fiercely loyal audience. The niche is however exploding. With many new festivals, hundreds of new record labels and thousands of new artists, producing and releasing content every year, the Psytrance scene is a world in itself.
Here’s where the need and benefit of platforms like internet radio come in. Tenzi.fm is one such radio station that takes up the task of showcasing electronic music from around the world. A number of connoisseurs of the genre have now got together to present a showcase of the best new releases within the genre to a wider audience. The show is called the Psychedelic Transcendence Show and is broadcast at midnight, every Monday on www.tenzi.fm. The show was inspired from the Alpha Source Show and is today supported by many. The Psychedelic Transcendence Show plays the latest psychedelic trance acts from across the globe. Artists scheduled to play on the show include Extraterrestrial, DJ Deadly Nightshade, Hypogeo, Psicodelicat, Parandroid, Silence Projekt, Shamanoid, Monster Kill, Infra, Aqabal, Grim, DJ Gian, Enichkin and many more. The show also plans to integrate guest interviews and expert discussions in the not-so-distant future.
Only 6 months into its schedule, the show has already mustered up a healthy audience of genre new-comers as well as mature enthusiasts. Old episodes of the show are archived at www.psychedelictranscendence.podomatic.com Special thanks goes to Angelo Zs (MIDI Radio), Kedar Sonigra, Greg Tomaz (Tenzi.fm), Various Record Labels and the large family of artists, who have and continue to play a major role in getting the show executed weekly.
